the reward is a +4 or +5 scroll of protection or destruction that makes the item +4 or +5 even if its already +4 or +5 or even +7 it goes down to +4 or +5 so in other words WASTE OF TIME!!!

its total bullshit...they dont say it clear enough...i had a +11 ogre...needless to say, i was extremely pissed after i used the scroll...
